by | Apr 2, 2022 | UpcycledHOME Magazine, Readers Spotlight

UpcycledHOME Magazine: How long have you been a member of “The UpcycledHOME” community Facebook group?
Ginny Anne: I joined this super supportive group over a year ago.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: Why did you join “The UpcycledHOME” community Facebook group?
Ginny Anne: I joined because Angel invited me. I stayed because it’s such a positive and encouraging group.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What’s your favourite part of being a member of “The UpcycledHOME”?
Ginny Anne: See above
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What is your favourite upcycling/furniture painting technique?
Ginny Anne: That’s a tough question, it depends on my mood! I’d have to say, currently, my favourite technique is using rust and patina products. I find beauty in what others may find ugly or strange.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What do you enjoy spending your free time doing?
Ginny Anne: Easy! Spending time with my family. We love to travel, go for walks, kayaking, bike riding, and just laughing together.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What is your current occupation?
Ginny Anne: It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. No matter what job I’ve had, I’ve always been an artist, but I can now confidently say, I’m a furniture artist.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What do you love most about upcycling?
Ginny Anne: Freedom! Freedom to be creative, crazy, unique, and to create something that hasn’t previously existed!
UpcycledHOME Magazine: How do you define success?
Ginny Anne: Success is when someone purchases one of my unique creations because they love it as much as I do.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: Who inspires you?
Ginny Anne: I find inspiration in all of my fellow furniture artists, artists, nature, fashion, music…pretty much everywhere!
UpcycledHOME Magazine: If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose and why? Dead or alive?
Ginny Anne: Picasso, I’ve always loved and appreciated the genius in his work.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What advice would you give to someone who wants to start upcycling furniture?
Ginny Anne: You do you. Create what makes you happy. Be unique. Take pride in your work. Most of all don’t compromise and be patient.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What’s one thing — either upcycling-related or not — you learned in the last month?
Ginny Anne: Not really something new that I learned but rather something that I was reminded…Life is beautiful. Enjoy it!
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
Ginny Anne: I’m a Star Wars geek (I currently have “happy r2d2” as my texting notification).
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What’s the last book you read?
Ginny Anne: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah (it’s being made it into a movie, and I wanted to read the book before I see it…the book is always better).
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What is your favorite hobby?
Ginny Anne: My hubby and I enjoy wine and microbrewery tasting/tours. Is getting tipsy considered a hobby???
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What’s the first concert you ever attended?
Ginny Anne: Donnie Osmond at our local fair with my mom. He came into the audience and stood on my chair! (Swoon)
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What’s the next place on your travel bucket list?
Ginny Anne: We’re headed to France this summer with my whole family for my parents’ 50th anniversary! After that I’d love to go to Greece and Italy.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: Are you currently binge-watching any shows?
Ginny Anne: Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and This Is Us.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Ginny Anne: This is by far the most difficult question you’ve asked! I guess I’d have to pick pizza since there are so many variations and styles.
UpcycledHOME Magazine: What’s one item you can’t live without?
Ginny Anne: Besides my family? Eyeliner.
